The 2007 HEARTSONG SWIM was the cornerstone event of the City of Rockville’s Mattie Stepanek Week, and the City is again honoring Mattie’s memory by co-sponsoring the event. 

While the 2007 SWIM raised funds for completion of the statue of Mattie and his service dog, Micah, the 2008 SWIM will help fund the installation and dedication of the statue at the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in Rockville, MD.  Additional funds will be used to expand the handicapped accessibility of the park.

WHY SHOULD OUR KIDS PARTICIPATE?

• Your swimmers can become involved in their community.
• Encourages participants to set and achieve goals
• Team building social event
• Swimmers can help spread Mattie’s message of peace by raising money for a park in which they will be able to play (and don’t forget about the dog park!)

• You will raise money for your team!!

The organizers appreciate the fact that the MCSL season is jam-packed with activities and that each team is on a tight schedule with both their swimmers and their volunteers. 

We would like to thank the participating teams by providing the following incentives:

• Every participating MCSL team will receive 15% of their collected funds for the swim. 
  
  
  • E.g. Raise $5,000 for the swim and get $750 for your own team programs! 
    
    
• Teams raising more than $10,000 will receive 20% back.
  
  
  • FYI – King Farm swimmers raised over $12,000 for the 2007 Heartsong Swim!
    
    
• Teams raising more than $2,500 will have bricks in their honor placed in Mattie’s Park.

WHAT DOES OUR TEAM NEED TO DO TO PARTICIPATE?

• Very little!
  
  
• Provide information to your swim families about the event (i.e., put up posters we will provide)
  
  
• Post a link to www.MattiesHeartsongSwim.org on your team website.
  
  
• Designate a team “Heartsong Swim” Representative to collect registration and sponsorship forms from your swimmers.
